About the artist
Ian Wingate Jones, after a career in executive management, management education and international consultancy, began exploring his love of painting at the age of 70. With no formal art training at school, he has been taught from scratch by Kieran Stiles of Charlbury.
Over a period of ten years, Ian has developed his own style, expressing the peace and beauty of the countryside. Through the process of learning, he has also developed new ways of appreciating the landscape and sharing its qualities with others.
His painting is essentially self‑indulgent, bringing relaxed concentration, mental stimulation and enjoyment through the intense study of a scene in order to capture it in paint. This journey has also deepened his understanding and appreciation of the works of the masters.
